My life is slowly but surely piecing itself together, bit by bit. Responsibility, I mean. Or, is it desperation? I’m really talking about my clock that’s telling me to go to Albuquerque, or just get the hell out of Mississippi.
Ever since I knew I was getting out of the Navy, something’s told me to go to Albuquerque. I did some research on the city here and there some time ago on the internet. Albuquerque is a medium sized city, larger than Hattiesburg, but more modernized. There’s a wide range of people there, not just Mexicans and Whites, but rather from all over the country. The city sits midway between desert conditions found in El Paso, and the beginning reaches of the Rockies. High desert, which offers the perfect 4 season conditions I’m looking for. If you want to see lots of snow, you can just drive north a bit to go snow-skiing. From the wide range of people there naturally comes lots of mixed culture. Lots of different foods to eat and people to meet.
Unlike redneck infested Mississippi. I must say however, if you look hard enough, you will find some well to do people here in South Mississippi. Take the coffee shop I occasionally go to in the mornings after work for breakfast/dinner. At one of the tables I’ll sit with my father and about four or five others. If I could have them put all their money that they have in their wallets on the table it would probably sum up to be close to $15,000. Just in case, they would say. These are the older people who have accumulated wealth over the years, frugally spent their money, and now live to tell the tale. However, every one of them is over fifty years old. Sure I’d like to carry money like that around, but not when I’m their age. That’s twenty-seven years away *shudders*. Oh my, in two more years I’ll be at the half way point to fifty. I’ve so many years ahead of me, its almost depressing really.
So anyway, I haven’t had a chance to talk to Marquetta (Bluewater Logistics, LLC.), a friend of ours, about my idea for the Bier Garten in Albuquerque. I also need to talk to my dad some more, when he hasn’t just woken up, which is about the only times I see him. After I get off of work, he’s just waking up, or when I wake up, which is right after his afternoon nap. So I’ll be able to talk to someone eventually. My dad had mentioned something on the line of Marquetta being an investor. Maybe this is an possibility, because no way would a bank give me a loan for $200,000.00 right off the bat when I had just moved to the city, having accumulated no credit with them, and my credit being bad as it is. But I’m working on that as well. All my bills in the past 6 months have definitely been paid on time. I was a bit sporadic last year with my bills.
I worked on my work timesheet in Excel again a few hours ago, and I also designed a spreadsheet laying out my expenses in Albuquerque based upon savings I have. For example, if I’ve saved for six months at $1,000 per month, after my initial trip over there I would have roughly $5,300 left. And only based upon rent, renting bills and food, that amount would last me 4.6 months. That’s not furnishings, appliances, other bills and night life. If I were to have a night life that is. After all of that I give myself one months worth. So, I definitely would like to secure a job before I get over there.
I talked to a guy on the phone today that’s supposedly got something coming up in Albuquerque. He, and four other partners are starting up a security company / personal protection. Since he is working 13-15 hour days, he’s not directly involved right now, and its his partners are waiting to do some contract negotiations. But, in short, he’s not taking any applications right now. From the way he’s talking, already looking at $25 to $30 per hour, better weapons, and definitely much nicer attire. But its all still in the works, and I’m to call him same time next month, 29th of June, to get an update. Or if something comes up, he’ll call me.
OK, I’m writing a book again, so I’ll post again on the ‘morrow.
Signing off,
-Bull
