Hello all.

Time for another update. About time right? Well, I finally have some things to blog about, so here goes.

Last Friday morning, five minutes before my relief came to let me go home, I slipped and injured my back. The stairs on the trailer had accumulated water all night long from the air conditioning unit. That combined with me entering and exiting the trailer, it began to form a nice slippery layer of mud. I had run inside the trailer to make sure I had grabbed all my things, and went back outside. My foot slipped on the second step of the stairs and next thing I knew I was on my back. I was hurting, and I had wanted to lay there and relish in my pain, but I instead stood up to assess the damage. Nothing broken as far as I could tell, just a sharp pain in my middle-left back and some scratches on my arms (week later now, their gone). So after a few minutes I breathed deep and tried to ignore the pain. My relief came and I drove off to Petal, to eat some food at the diner. The pain was steadily getting worse, like someone had taken a bat to my ribs. By the time I got home I was in some major pain. I called my supervisor and explained to him what happened, and I proceeded straight to the HealthWorks center. That particular clinic is a branch of Forrest General Hospital, a small unit for workerscomp and pre-employment screenings. I saw the doctor, showed her where I hurt, and she had me get X-Rays. After a brutal 30 minutes of posing in front of the X-Ray machine, I went back into the small sterile room and waited for the Doctor to come back. She said there was no signs of fractures (in my experience, xray machines aren’t entirely accurate!), that I probably just bruised the rib itself and the surrounding muscle. I said OK, and took my paperwork to my jobsite and turned that in and had to fill out a small incident report.

I stayed home a good three days, and returned this past Monday to work. I was still sore but I couldn’t just hang out at the house all day and night. Well today is Friday, and I’m much better, still pains me if I bend down to pick something up or some similar activity. But all in all I’ll live :P
Wednesday I got approved for my apartment and everything is pretty much set to go! Next tuesday on the 8th I go at 0800 to get my trailer hitch installed on my car and thats pretty much it! My last working night will be the 13th, and the following day after I get off of work, I’ll drive up to Jackson to turn my stuff in (I wonder if I can just give it to my supervisor?) and on the 15th I pick up the trailer from U-Haul and pack it. I’ll take a goodnights rest and leave out of here on the 16th at 0430 :)
Time sure is slipping by. I feel somewhat stressed out at times about this move. This will actually be the first time I’m going out completely on my own. The military didn’t really count, since the Navy took care of my ass. I am truly going to be by myself this time, and its a big step for me. I just hope the damn car doesn’t go kaput on the way!!! *knocks on wood*

OK, thats it for now, time for some sleep.

Signing off,

-Bull
